Sizing equipment reduces scrap to consistently-sized chips for efficient fluid removal, whether via automatic chip processing or pucking (chip densification).

Typically this is accomplished with a shredder. Only Inter-Source has engineered the technology to size at satellite locations, in-stream, or within the chip processing system.

Shredders are available with mechanical or hydraulic, single or dual drives to optimally size any scrap type and volume.

Pick-up wheel flume shredders comb stringies and balls, shredding and reducing their size so they may stream on to a central coolant filter.

As the industry leader, Inter-Source manufactures a rotary shredder for use at the machining center or in a flume.

A unique feature of the rotary shredder is its ability to discharge solids, separately from the chips, into a collection container.

A grate leading to the shredding teeth allows massive coolant volume to pass while bundles of chips are guided to the shredder face.

In photos 011 and 012, an Inter-Source dual shaft shredder is incorporated into an existing flume and filter system to manage stringy steel chips.

Click here for a video of stringy steel chips transported by high-volume flume to a central coolant filter, where the chips are shredded to a manageable size to improve the transport capability of the discharge conveyor.
